Frida Vida Pop-Up Trunk Show

Frida Vida was a Marketplace put together by Mi Vida Boutique in Highland Park! One of my favorite stores in L.A. Featuring Local Artists & who create their own Art, Clothing & Accessories!

I had so much fun putting pieces together for this show! It was definitely a show that inspired all my new Frida Kahlo Collection.

                                        Frida Kahlo Selfie Necklace

My Frida Kahlo Selfie Necklace is made out of a hard plastic, molded resin flowers & charms.
This 3D Frida comes to life with a silver plated hand & tiny skull. I've been wanting to create a surrealistic Frida Kahlo Collection. Even though she was not a surrealistic artists, she was described in the surrealist movement as a "ribbon around a bomb".

Frida didn't care for the "surrealist" label, she felt her work reflected her reality more than her dreams. Her works, many of which are self-portraits reflect how she saw herself painting herself because she was the subject she knew best. My Frida Kahlo Selfie Necklace features her face as a play on her Self Portraits.

One-Of-A-Kind Frida Self Portrait with Monkey

Based on Kahlo's Painting called "Self Portrait with Monkey" 1938. Not knowing that monkey's were symbolic of lust in mythology, Frida's monkey symbolizes a creature with it's own soul. Tender & gentle giving a sense of protection. It's here that this special piece is designed for a client of mine loves Frida and everthing she embodies. This one-of-a-kind design is created with Natural Turquoise stones, Milagros & crystals. Playing of the background of leaves in the painting to bring out an earth feel behind the design.

Every necklace is one-of-a-kind. Includes my next favorite, Viva la Vida! Which was painted 8 days before her death and her last painting she painted.

Viva La Vida, Sandia by: Frida Kahlo 1954

I love how this Frida Viva Sandia Necklace came out. Inspired by the Painting known as Viva la Vida, where Kahlo creates a beautiful still life painting of Sandias. In this piece I wanted to create a piece that reflected the sweetness of life. Watermelons also remind me of my Grandpa, and how he use to always cut out the heart of the Sandia. He knew this was the sweetest part of the fruit!

Frida inspired all the Artists at Mi Vida to bring out the sweetness in life. We got spoiled with Little Sweeties Frida Kahlo cupcakes. Too cute to eat, but you know we ate them anyway..

And our Frida Kahlo Photo Booth was a success too!!!
