La Monarca Bakery, Pan Dulce y Que!

La Monarca Bakery x Boyle Heights

La Monarca Bakery now sits perfectly
in the Historic Boyle Hotel Cummings
   building in Boyle Heights!

Boyle Heights was once a Jewish,
   Italian & Japanese American
Community! It's known now as the
Heart of East L.A. & for its strong,
   Mexican community. You'll find
amazing views of L.A.'s Skyline &
   the infamous Mariachi Plaza!

La Monarca Bakery brings out the
sweetness that you can only find
on the Eastside! No matter how many
times I've been to Boyle Heights, I feel
   like I'm home!

La Monarca Bakery & Cafe couldn't
have picked a better location than
Boyle Heights! Their right on the corner
Of 1st Street & Boyle Avenue!

The sweet delicious smell of Pan Dulce
& coffee great you at the door!
    There's nothing like Mexican bread!

Makes you want to order everything!
I brought my friend, Darlene Tenes of
CasaQ, who I like to call the "Latina
   Martha Stewart" from San Jose!
She has a sweet spot for Pan Dulce!
   Can you blame her?

    Besides the delicious pan dulce,
food, cakes, coffee etc. Boyle Heights
has strong Community ties! I ran into
Leah Rose, from Las Cafeteras &
    her Co-Founder Laura from People's
Yoga! They recently opened the first
Yoga Space Ever in East L.A.!!

As I decided to give Darlene a Tour, I
forgot to mention to her you can't get
very far in Boyle Heights, without
    Running into a Mariachi!

I Chola'd this Mariachi into taking
a picture! Next time I'm gonna ask
    him to take a Selfie!:)

    Besides the Mariachi's you'll see a
    beautiful Statue of Lucha Reyes,
known for her influence on Mariachi
    Music!

Next on our Mini Tour, I say
    Mini because it's literally
    across the street:)! Darlene being
The "Latina Martha Stewart" notices a
    Mexican restaurant that has been
    named after Mariachi's Musicians
Patron Saint, Santa Cecilia. If you
    didn't know, now you know!

Our Mini Tour ended with a Classic
Mural of the Virgen de Guadalupe!
It's a symbol to respect the business
space & any community person can
tell you no one messes with the
   Lady!

Mariachi Plaza is a sacred space!
La Monarca Bakery brings a sweetness
but the Boyle Heights Murals remind
you of the strong Mexican community
   that lives within these streets!

Boyle Heights is a Gem! Whether you
live, run with the Boyle Heights
Bridge Runners like me or are visiting
don't forget to respect the space &
get your Pan Dulce y Cafe Oaxaca on!!!

   Que Viva Mariachi Plaza!

    Xoxo,

    Chicana in the City
