ANA TIJOUX x ilaments

Ana Tijoux wearing ilaments Virgen Hoop Earrings

Ana Tijoux is a French-Chilean Musician. She's known for her 1990 MC Hip-Hop all Female Group Makiza (1997-2006). Ana's interest in Rap came after meeting Consuelo Vergara & was highly influenced by a Rap group Makul from Santiago, Chile. Being a Gemini, Ana & Zaturno another Rap Artist formed their own group called "Los Gemelos"! Ana after several years broke off from the group & became a well known Solo Artist in the Underground Hip Hop scene! She became famously known throughout Latin America once she crossed over to Latin Pop, when Ana collaborated with Mexican Singer, Julieta Venegas on the song "Eres para Mi" this song got nominated for Song of the Year!

Tijoux's style is raw, truthful, focusing on injustice, equality for women, non-violence songs rooted in rap with her lyrics sung both in Spanish & in French! Dopest Female Emcee right? I love Ana's energy, stilo & her words!

Let's be honest she is a Songbird with rawness that's infectious & Hip-Hop infused songs that uplift women! Ana's lyrics are empowering & words that women around the world can relate too! It's like her music has this Cosmic Consciousness created with amor y orgullo! She represents power of community!

I had the pleasure of meeting Ana Tijoux earlier this year when she came to L.A. for the Grammy's! She was nominated for Best Latin Pop, Rock -Urban Album for her song called "Vengo"!

This is where our story begins! My friend Sumaq put in a special request for a Palabra Bracelet (shown above) with the words "ANTIPATRIARCA"! (I will never forget this word!) At the time, I knew it was like the name of Ana's song but didn't think it could possibly be for ANA herself!!!

Well it turned out it WAS!! But I didn't know until the day I delivered the jewelry! It was the same day as the Grammy's! I met up with Sumaq only to find her with Ana Tijoux at Mi Vida Boutique in Highland Park. It's a Local Boutique  in Highland Park where I've been a resident Jewelry Designer for years & where Ana picked up a few other pieces of my collection including the earrings she's now rocking in her "ANTIPATRIARCA" video above! I was so excited to meet her & happily surprised the bracelet was for her!

This is where the funny #butnotsofunny story begins. After Sumaq & Ana leave to the Grammy's, I get a Crying Emoji message from Sumaq that the word is spelled WRONG!! I'm like Nooooooooooo......such a Pocha Jewelry Fail! Insert a million crying emojis! I'm like oh no! So super duper sorry! Of course I jump in my car & tell her I'll have a new one made by tonight! I rush back to my L.A. studio & create a new Palabra bracelet with the CORRECT spelling.

We were all bummed! Mostly me:( because she wanted it for Ana to wear to the Grammy's! So after everything was said & done I dropped off the new jewels & asked Sumaq for the incorrect one only to find out Sumaq was like, no I decided to keep it! Ana didn't win the Grammy & Sumaq said the joke was because her bracelet was spelled wrong! OMG! Mispelling led to no Grammy Win again insert a million crying emoji's! 😭😭😭Did I spell emoji's right? Hijole!

We laughed & I cryed & told Sumaq please tell Ana I promise to the spell her next song right so she can take home the Grammy:)!

Live & learn! It's all part of our Journey! And a sign I need Rosetta Stone in my life!
