Celebrate Muertos in Style! The Memory of Selena through Music, Art & Culture!

Don’t miss MOLAA’s Fotos y Recuerdos, a Día de los Muertos celebration unlike any other, honoring the memory and music of Selena, with musical performances by:

Just added! A very special apperance by Grammy Award winning musician & author of To Selena, with Love, Chris Perez and Patricia Lopez from ABC7's VISTA L.A. will join us as Mistress of Ceremonies.

 

Special guests for the night will include: An unforgettable tribute to Selena by Va Por Tifinalist, Virginia Stille accompanied by Mariachi Garibaldi and a mesmerizing live art demonstration by LA artist and muralist, Robert Vargas.

 

This year’s event also serves as the opening for our second annual Art & Altar exhibition featuring a series of paintings by Robert Palacios, whose works offer an alternative take on the Día de los Muertos festivities and imagery. The exhibition is co-curated by Edward Hayes, MOLAA Curator of Exhibitions, and Steven Acevedo, Director of Chimmaya Gallery in Los Angeles.

Direct from the Smithsonian, MOLAA is also proud to exhibit A Room of Her Own, an altar installation by renowned author, Sandra Cisneros, which pays tribute to her mother Elvira Cordero Cisneros.

Also on view, community-built altars including a special tribute in honor of Selena.
